TECHNICAL NEWS – Noise Rejection

June 2006

Interrogator 4210 receives improved noise rejection capability.

WEL is pleased to announce that the Interrogator 4210 is now more robust than ever when operating in noisy environments. Many battery users have been plagued with testing problems using their current battery testing devices. Either results are not repeatable, or testing is simply not possible. This can be due to poor (low quality) or aged components in the UPS system, or due to switching equipment or other sources creating voltage spikes and harmonic noise overlaying the dc charging voltage. Amazingly, in certain cases these spikes can be up to several kV.

WEL is pleased to announce that recent updates in both the software / firmware and hardware have made the Interrogator 4210 capable of now rejecting noise spikes up to several kV and severe harmonic noise. "We are very pleased with this development" stated Kurt Salloux CTO of WEL. "We have not needed to resort to higher excitation currents or other such brute force methods to achieve this. As a result we are able to retain the excellent repeatability of the results generated by the 4210 system in the field."
